BTCCSquare news:

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is shifting its Japanese production strategy, opting to manufacture cutting-edge 3-nanometer chips at its Kumamoto facility instead of the initially planned 6nm-12nm nodes. The $17 billion investment marks a significant escalation from the original $12.2 billion budget.

The upgrade follows discussions between TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. This strategic pivot diversifies TSMC's advanced chip production beyond Taiwan, complementing its $165 billion U.S. manufacturing commitment.

Capital expenditures are projected to surge 30% year-over-year to $56 billion by 2026. As the primary supplier for Nvidia's AI systems, Apple iPhones, and AMD processors, TSMC's technological leap reinforces its semiconductor dominance amid global chip demand.
